Psalm 51 is one of the most honest prayers ever recorded, written by King David after his devastating moral failure involving Bathsheba and the murder of her husband Uriah. Rather than defending himself, David cried out to God for mercy, appealing not to his own goodness but to God's steadfast love and compassion. His request was not for a restored reputation but for something far deeper: a completely new heart. True repentance is not simply an apology or a response to getting caught. It is a Spirit-produced change of heart that leads to a genuine change of direction. The line between good and evil does not run between categories of people. It runs through every human heart. No matter what has been hidden, God's grace through Jesus Christ is greater, and healing begins the moment we stop hiding and step into the light.
