We often misjudge Jesus by trying to manage Him rather than submit to His authority. In John 7, Jesus faced opposition from religious leaders and even advice from His own brothers who didn't understand His divine timing. The crowd whispered about Him in fear, unable to recognize His true authority. We make similar mistakes when we expect Jesus to follow our wisdom, fear human opinion more than God, or want a Jesus who affirms us without transforming us. The fundamental issue isn't intellectual misunderstanding but our resistance to His rightful authority over our lives. Jesus calls us to move beyond assumptions and cultural caricatures to truly follow Him on His terms.
